What Is An Evergreen Niche
An evergreen niche is a topic that doesn’t lose its value or relevance over time. It’s a subject that people will always have an interest in or a need for, until the end of time.
For example, Relationships are a great evergreen niche because we are a social species and we will always have the need to start, nurture and maintain good relationships.
One very popular evergreen sub-niche of the relationship market is the dating niche. There will always be people who are interested in dating or need help when it comes to their love life.
Why Choose An Evergreen Niche For Blogging?
Choosing an evergreen niche for blogging is usually the best way to go, in my opinion. It gives you the opportunity to write one article and use it again and again for multiple purposes.
Considering it now takes time for new articles to rank (unless your blog has crazy-high authority), it makes sense to focus on topics that people will always search for.
You can write an article now that is still relevant in 5-10 years’ time. You may have to tweak it here and there when it needs to be updated, but for the most part, the overall topic is always relevant.

Is It Enough To Just Blog About a Niche That Is Evergreen?
No. There are quite a lot of evergreen niches out there that are just not profitable.
Sure, you might make a bit of money with some of them. But considering the amount of time (and money) it takes to grow and rank a successful blog, you’re gonna want to choose a niche that you can also make decent money from.
Some people argue that you could make money from any niche that you can generate a decent level of traffic to if you’re monetizing with an ad network like MediaVine or AdThrive.
While that may be true to a point, yes, you could join an ad network and slap the ad banners all over your site. But if the niche doesn’t make much money in general, then you’re not gonna get paid much per click.
Another reason this is not a good idea is that you’re also going to be limited to one monetization strategy. What if the ad network decides they don’t like your site anymore and kick you off, and you can’t get approved to another one?
Using an ad network also slows down your site speed considerably, and affects user experience. Google is now super-hot on sites providing both a good user experience for visitors and having a site that loads quickly.
If people are leaving your site because it’s taking too long to load, or because they’re getting annoyed by too many ads then Google may demote your rankings.
Since May 2021 Google is now using these factors as ranking signals. You can check how your site is doing in this regard in the core web vitals section of your Google Search Console.
I’m not bashing ad networks here, they can be a great source of income if you have a lot of traffic. I’m just saying don’t paint yourself into a corner where you have to rely on one.
I’m also not saying that every site that is using an ad network is gonna get slammed in the next Google update. That’s probably very unlikely. However, it is possible that having a badly optimized site, and also using third-party services that slow your site down could hurt your rankings.
So, with that out of the way, in order to choose a good evergreen niche to blog about, then I recommend only looking at niches that you can also make a decent amount of money from, and also gives you the opportunity to diversify your blog’s monetization.
The 6 Top-Level Evergreen Niches
A top-level evergreen niche is a niche that all other sub-niches (or micro niches) fit into in that category.
Another way to say it is, that it’s an “umbrella niche” that all other sub-niches fit into in that market.
The 6 top-level evergreen niches are:
These are the five topics that people will always want information on. Each of these niches also has loads, and loads of sub-niches, which are highly monetizable.
Why Choose a Sub-Niche?
Unfortunately, these niches at the top level are just too competitive for about 99% of people to target directly with a blog.
For example, if you wanted to start a health site that was going to blog about anything and everything to do with health then your competition is going to be powerhouse sites like WebMD, HealthLine, and the MayoClinic.
These sites are multi-million dollar companies that can easily outspend you (if you’re a small-time blogger) on content creation and link building.
It just won’t be possible to compete going head to head with them.
On top of this, the health niche (as well as the finance niche) is known as a YMYL (your money, your life) niche.
Basically, if your content has the potential to directly impact someone’s health or financial circumstances then Google is not going to rank you unless you have a huge amount of authority and credibility in the space.
Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean you can’t start some kind of health blog, though.
If you want to get into the health market in some way then you’ll have to sub-niche down to find something less competitive, and that doesn’t have dire implications on someone’s health.
I will get into a few evergreen sub-niches in each of the 6 categories later in this post.
How To Choose A Good Sub-Niche
I could write quite a long post about choosing a good niche (which I will link to from this section once I’ve written it). But for now, here are a few tips and resources to check if your sub-niche idea does have a growing, or at least steady interest.
Use Google Trends
Google Trends is a great, free tool that you can use to check the past and present popularity of any topic.
Google has collected and sorted a ton of user information based on what people search the internet for. And this info is ready for you to access for free whenever you want.
You can search by topic and then look at the trend lines to see if it’s a niche of increasing or declining interest, and also if it has seasonal activity.
For example, if you see the trend line spiking at points throughout the year then it’s probably a seasonal niche where it gets more interest at certain times of the year.
Here are some examples of seasonal niches:
- Air Conditioning
- Log Burners
These niches will likely make most of their money at key points of the year and could be pretty quiet during the rest of it.
Seasonal niches can be great, but if you want a blog that makes money all year round then don’t pick a seasonal niche.
Answer The Public
Answer The Public is another great tool that you can use for free to see what’s popular online at the moment.
You can use it to find out what questions people are asking and determine if there is a hot trend or a possible emerging market.
If a lot of people have a question about a topic then chances are there’s a problem there that needs solving.
Solving people’s problems is where the money is to be made, either by promoting affiliate products or offering your own.
However, if you’re new to this then I would strongly advise starting off promoting products as an affiliate first, and building an audience before you go to the trouble of making your own products.
This way you can test the market with outer people’s products, and then when it comes time to create your own products you can ask your audience what they actually want first before you go to all the trouble of creating something.
Top 6 Evergreen Blog Niches
The health niche is one of the most popular and profitable niches on the internet, and it contains thousands of smaller sub-niches that you can get into.
Whether you want to start a blog about toe-nail fungus, losing weight, or getting in shape, there’s an absolute ton of opportunity in this space to create a profitable blog around an evergreen topic.
If you’re an affiliate then there are loads of great products you can promote that will pay you well.
Dieting is an example of a niche with lots of good products that will earn you decent money. If you’re interested in this niche then you can also check out my article on the best affiliate programs for weight loss.
If you have some expertise in your chosen sub-niche then there’s also a lot of scopes to create your own products to sell from your blog. These could include eBooks, courses, or even physical products.
Health Sub-Niche Examples
Here are some ideas for sub-niches in the health space:
- Smoothie recipes
- Natural remedies
- Adrenal fatigue recovery
- Sleep hacks
- Weight loss solutions
- Calisthenics training
- Dynamic strength training
- Acne treatment
- Organic food
- Vegetarian diet
These niches will always be evergreen because there will always be people who need help and information on these topics.
The relationship niche is another hugely popular and profitable market. There will always be people who need help with a relationship, whether it’s help and guidance to find Mr or Miss Right, getting an ex back after a breakup, or saving a marriage.
There’s a lot of money to be made helping people solve their relationship problems by recommending some great products created by professional relationship experts that can help them.
However, if you’re going to get into this niche then do your research on the products you promote because there is also a lot of crap out there too.

Since modern society revolves around money, and most of us need it to live, people will always want information on either how to make, save or invest money.
As you can probably already tell, the wealth niche spans a huge amount of sub-categories. So, whether you want to start a blog that shows people how to build a business online, how to be an expert money-saver, or how to invest the money you have then there are lots of opportunities here.
As I mentioned earlier, certain sub-niches in the wealth category would fall into YMYL. So, if you’re new to blogging and SEO, and if you don’t have the credibility and budget behind you it’d be advisable to steer clear of those niches.

Most people have a strong desire to improve themselves in some way. Whether it’s a need to feel more confident in social situations, become more focused and productive, or deepen their spirituality.
If you go to any good book store, you will see there are lots of books on all kinds of self-help topics, some of which may surprise you.
If you can help a person evolve in an area of life where they are struggling then they will happily throw money at you to help them get there.
Don’t worry, you don’t need to be the next Wim Hoff, Ben Green, or Tony Robbins to be successful in this space.
You also don’t need to have any official credentials to help people in a lot of sub-niches in the self-help space.
You just need to understand your topic well and be able to help people to get results.
Self-Help Sub-Niche Examples
- How to improve confidence
- Public speaking

Whether you like it or not, we live in a technological age with a new tech coming out almost every week. Technology is advancing rapidly, and both the general public and businesses need to use a lot of it.
While a lot of sub-niches in the tech space are competitive, there is a huge range of product categories that you can blog about.
Bloggers in this space help people to use, understand and get more out of the tech they promote. And, of course, they will also help you to find the best product for your specific needs.
These bloggers primarily monetize their blog through affiliate links when they review and recommend products in their space.
Some tech bloggers focus on reviewing physical products like cell phones, computers, and TVs, while others blog about software.
There’s lots of money to be made here, especially if you are reviewing software as a service (SaaS). A lot of SaaS companies have high ticket affiliate programs because they have smaller margins.
Also, a lot of SaaS companies that sell their products on a recurring monthly or yearly billing basis also pay recurring affiliate commissions, too. This is a great way to build up a solid, reliable income through affiliate marketing.
Technology Sub-Niche Examples
- Cell phone reviews
- Laptops and computers
- Marketing software
- Web hosting
- Android/Apple apps
- Automation tech
We all love to chill out and spend time doing things we love. Since people will always have this need, the recreation niche is also an evergreen niche.
While some recreational activities are passing fads, some have and will surely stand the test of time. When it comes to blogging though, now every evergreen recreational activity will be profitable.
For example, golf is a great niche and there’s some good money to be made thereby recommending all the products that a golfer would be interested in. However, I doubt you’d make very much money by ruining a chess blog, although chess is definitely an evergreen game.
With that said, here are some evergreen recreational sub-niches that should also pay you good money.
Recreation Sub-Niche Examples
- How to play guitar
- RV and motor homes
- Dog training
Generally speaking, most niches will fit into the 6 top-level evergreen niches – health, wealth, relationships, self-help, technology, and recreation.
There is an absolute ton of opportunity out there, and a lot of sub-niches that you can get into to make a lot of money. However, there is no money to be made in every niche.
Since running a blog takes time and often also money, how much income you can generate from the niche needs to be an important part of your vetting process.

An evergreen niche is an industry with everlasting appeal. It doesn't rely on seasonal trends or gimmicks to attract customers, because it sells products or services that people inherently need or desire.
